sammy and i went down to old ted ford's place near snider's crossroads for his first hunting expedition. it was a drizzly/rainy couple of days. about 5 minutes after i took this photo - we're in a deer stand about 20 ft. up - i saw a doe cross the alley, left to right, at 220 yards (the second mud bank crossing in the photo). she wasn't running, but she was moving steadily and slipped into the brush on the right-hand side before sammy could get his gun sited and the shot off.
sammy stayed down one more night to hunt with old ted, his daughter, biz and her boyfriend, carmichael. let's hope he gets one.
